About Didi Martin
Fine art painter — Ventura, California
Artist Biography
Didi Martin began her artistic education and professional career in the early 1970s. Her early work spanned fine art lithography, etching, and silk screen printing before transitioning into theater craft, where she developed advanced skills in large-scale painting and sculpture.
This foundation led to a fifteen-year career in the fabrication of architectural sculpture and mold making. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she completed commercial works in fiberglass, cast stone, and specialty plastics for the architectural display industry — blending technical precision with artistic vision.
In 2000, after relocating to Los Angeles, Didi retired from commercial fabrication to focus exclusively on fine art painting and sculpture. Today, her work reflects decades of craftsmanship, exploration, and a fearless willingness to move between representational and abstract expression.
Artist Statement
“I don’t know if I really love painting, or if it’s just that I love myself more when I paint.”
I find extraordinary beauty in ordinary things, I find magic in the mundane. I love the unexpected. My subject is anything and everything; representational and abstract. I have acquired a solid foundation of formal painting practices and now I try to push beyond those boundaries by giving myself permission to explore every possibility.
